![]() Our very gracious waitress repeatly referred to me as the birthday girl and made a point to serve me first. ![]() Again before being seated, I was asked which of us had a birthday, and was told happy birthday and that they intended to help me celebrate it. When making the reservation by phone I was asked if we were celebrating anything special. When I asked the server if I could have my second pot made a bit stronger, her reply was to just add more hot water over the same loose tea still in the strainer from the first pot and to just let it steep longer. The most pleasant taste treat was a truffle deviled egg. The savory plate was fair, but again the portions barely providing 2 bites each. There was also the world's tiniest cinnamon churro placed among the sweets plate, along with a beautiful painted salted caramel, chocolate, which was very, very salty. Luckily it was the tiniest macaron I had ever seen. The traditional one macaron per guest was stuffed with goat cheese instead of something sweet. The scone portion was a small rectangle fruit muffin tasting pastry. Many with small portions also, but usually the miniature delights are so good one's taste buds are satisfied at the very least. Again, we have experienced several afternoon teas throughout America. Afternoon tea is a light meal, but this was just unreal small portions, and not very tasty at that. Even if it wasn't overpriced, one does not expect a huge amount of food to be served. This is hands down the most disappointing one we have ever had. One of my families favorite things to do when traveling to a famous or luxurious property is to enjoy afternoon tea when available. Front desk was professional but friendly. Surprised no egg nog drinks for the holidays. Had drinks and small plates in Library three times. ![]() Breakfast in dining room is expensive but absolutely wonderful (ala cart). Probably not much you can do about that but still. I could not get soap off me and ended up getting an infection because of it. Biggest complaint is that the water is much too soft. Complimentary bottled water and as much as you need, once again, if you left a note or called. After being gone and sweaty from hiking, really could have used a shower right away. We came back at 4pm and they were just cleaning it. One day, we couldn't remember if we had taken off the do not disturb sign so called about 11am to let them to go ahead and clean the room. Once I asked for more, they gave me two boxes. Kleenex box only had a few tissues left in box when we checked in-need to check that. I didn't think I had to put a note to that effect but apparently I did. I am allergic to fragrance and don't want others to touch my stuff. I did not like that Housekeeping moved my toiletries. We had to shove towels to grab the water before it could expand. Need to switch to full bath towels as well as the ones they have are too small. If I didn't leave a note for extra towels, never had enough. Housekeeping could up their game a bit however. Clean, beautiful room, and the view of Antler Village especially at night with the Holiday lights was just gorgeous.
